How to send a gift without their address

To send a gift without someone's address, Gratos gives you a link to send them, and they fill in their address themselves. The address is saved to their page in Gratos for this gift and the next, and the gift waits until they fill it in.

How do you send someone a gift without their address?

Let them give it to you. With Gratos it works like this:

  1. Choose the gift. Ask Gratos for a gift for the person, as for any gift.
  2. Send them the link. Gratos gives you a link. You send it yourself, usually by text from your own phone.
  3. They fill in their address. The link opens a short page that asks for a delivery address.
  4. You approve the exact total. With the address in, Gratos prices the gift with the store's tax and shipping, and you approve the exact total.
  5. Gratos places the order. It places the order on the store's own website, and the store ships it to them.

The address is saved to their page in Gratos, so you won't need to ask again for the next gift.

Who sends the link, me or Gratos?

Usually you do, from your own phone, so it comes from someone they know. If you choose, Gratos can email it. Gratos texts the link only to someone who has already texted Gratos.

Every message Gratos sends on your behalf names you as the sender. We do not market to your recipients and we do not add them to any list of ours (Terms, §4).

What does the person see?

A short page that names you, asks for their delivery address, and shows when the link expires. They don't need an account or an app. If Gratos emails the request for you, the email tells them: "We only use it to deliver gifts to you."

They can reply STOP to any text from Gratos, and they can write to privacy@gratos.ai to have their information corrected or deleted (Terms, §13; Privacy Policy, §8).

Will I see their address?

Yes. You, the sender, will see the delivery address. You are the buyer, so the address goes to the store for delivery, and the store's order confirmation sent to you may show it (Terms, §4). If they'd rather keep their address private from you, a link is not the way to do it.

What if they never fill it in?

The link works for 30 days. The gift waits, and nothing is charged while it waits for an address. You can cancel it until payment starts (Terms, §3.5a).

What are the other ways to get an address?

  • Ask someone close to them, like a partner, a parent or a friend.
  • Ask them directly. Plenty of people are happy to be asked.
  • Send a digital gift by email or text, which needs no address.

The link from Gratos sits between the last two: you send a real gift, and they give the address on their own terms.
